Every crafter worth their salt will tell you that in addition to the creative freedom making something yourself offers, you also have a chance to be thrifty. Handmade usually means less expensive than store bought. So to stretch my $20 further, I wanted to make something myself for changefor20.
I decided on something very near and dear to my heart, thanks to my nearly 6 month old son, Nolan. I chose to make blankets for Project Linus. Project Linus is a non-profit volunteer organization that provides love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” I was able to make 3 cool baby blankets for Project Linus out of my $20.
If you are a sewer, quilter, knitter or hooker (one who crochets!) be sure to check out Project Linus as a great way to donate your time and skills to a wonderful charity.
